The Roots.... Live in Concert......Sept 7th......
The Roots are an influential, Grammy-winning hip-hop band based out of Philadelphia, who are famed for a raw, heavily jazzy hip-hop sound and incredible live performance. Led by founding members ?uestlove and Black Thought, the 6 member group have released 9 albums and are currently in production of their 10th. The band tours extensively, and their live sets are frequently hailed as the best in the hip-hop genre. Recently, the band played a concert in NYC's Radio City Music Hall with Common, Nas, Talib Kweli and Big Daddy Kane. They also backed Jay-Z for thr third time, on his Reasonable Doubt Concert, a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the release of his first album. Most recently, The Roots appeared at The Coachella Music and Arts Festival on April 27th, and co-headlined ROCK THE BELLS North American Tour with the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Nas, Mos Def, EPMD, and many more.
With combined album sales of over 5 million, The Roots are among hip-hop's top selling acts and certainly its most experienced. Their live performance is not to be missed and has sold out in Montreal the last 4 times they have played, most recently at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
